Thanks to the lubrication- and maintenance-free design of our insert bearings, Heineken Brasil was able to make considerable savings not only in terms of purchase costs, but also in terms of lubricant costs and maintenance labour hours. A real win for efficiency and the budget!

igubal plastic flange mounted bearings are made of tribologically optimised high-performance polymers and are available in the same dimensions as metal versions. However, they offer a significantly more environmentally friendly solution.

Less energy is required during manufacture, which has a positive effect on their CO2 footprint. Not only are they cheaper to purchase, but the elimination of lubrication and maintenance also results in immense cost and time savings. These flange mounted bearings can be combined with our matching plastic fixing collars and flexible end caps made of TPU. The latter are available on request with company logos and in various colours.

Customised special solutions

Krones was looking for custom-made grippers that had to meet specific requirements. These are made of RN367, a material developed by igus for the special challenges of bottle handling.

Not only does the material keep wear and tear in contact with glass to a minimum, but hygiene design specifications and chemical cleaning were also taken into account during development. This keeps the level of bacterial contamination on the grippers as low as possible.

However, the grippers have even more advantages. Thanks to the universal solution and the durability of the solution, replacement and conversion parts are no longer necessary, saving a total of 2.5 tons of material.

Format adjustment in beverage labelling system

Labelling up to 50,000 containers per hour with just one unit – this figure alone is impressive for the newly developed Sleevematic TS from Krones AG. With this system, the company has succeeded in doubling the performance of the previous series. One of the main reasons for this is that instead of the classic cutting of the sleeves, they are now micro-perforated. A large number of lubrication-free linear axes, flexible cables and harnessed cables with matching connectors are installed. The products have been used successfully at Krones for many years.

Linear robot as an ice cream packaging master

Many local businesses reach their capacity limits during high production periods and their margins are often lower than those of industrially manufactured products. A cost-effective and efficient linear robot for labelling ice cream tubs was needed to increase production capacity and optimise the packaging process. The robot also had to be FDA-compliant in order to meet food standards.

A linear robot that labelled ice cream tubs on a rotary indexing conveyor provided the solution. This led to increased efficiency and higher production capacity. A key aspect was the accurate labelling of each ice cream flavour to reflect the variety available.
