Format adjustment in modern testing and packaging system from Wipotec

• Requirements: For the packaging and testing unit, FDA-compliant, maintenance-free and robust bearing products were sought for numerous format adjustments and for the conveyor technology.

• Success for the customer: The robust drylin® linear bearings enable precise format adjustments by hand. The iglidur® plain bearings and xiros ball bearings are also highly wear-resistant and completely lubrication- and maintenance-free. They enable long service lives even under adverse environmental conditions.

The TQS-SP TE from Wipotec is a solution for product guidance, printing using an integrated tamper evidence unit and tamper-proof sealing of folding cartons.
The system forms the last station in packaging machines and can be easily integrated into existing systems.
The machine focuses on serialisation in the smallest possible installation space in order to save as much space as possible in existing systems. This is made possible, among other things, by the particularly flexible components, which can be individually adjusted to different packaging sizes in the smallest possible space. The print head, camera positioning and sensors in the TQS-SP TE can be precisely adjusted by hand without any tools. The machine performance can also be demonstrated. With up to 600 packaged products per minute, fast serialisation and sealing of the goods is achieved.
Robust and maintenance-free storage components were sought in order to be able to guarantee the various format adjustments under FDA requirements as well as conveyor systems under high load and in continuous operation.

For this reason, mainly drylin® linear bearings, but also plastic plain bearings made of iglidur®, for example, are used at various points within the testing and packaging system.
For lateral and format adjustments to set the machine for different folding box dimensions, drylin® SHT linear tables are used today, which can be precisely adjusted by hand (see Fig. 1 below). The drylin® spindles used there are robust and enable adjustment even under high loads and long stroke lengths (Fig. 3).
A highly wear-resistant round rod made of iglidur® JB is used as a transmission roller in the system. It also offers a low coefficient of friction and works without lubrication (Fig. 2).
Several pressure rollers are used for product transport, which keep the products safely on track and enable the short processing cycles. In the rollers, completely lubrication and maintenance-free iglidur® J bearings also prove themselves in continuous operation (Fig. 4).
In addition to the format adjustments of the test and packaging unit, drylin® SHT spindle linear tables are also used for the fine adjustment of the sensor system, which guarantee convenient operation with maximum availability thanks to their precision and robustness (Fig. 5).
Finally, xiros ball bearings are also used in the guide rollers in the module from Wipotec. Like all components, they are also fully FDA-compliant (Fig. 6).
