Components of the drylin W profile guide

Profile rails

drylin W profile rails enable extremely high flexibility in design and simple assembly through the use of single, double or curved rails. Hard-anodised aluminium is used as a rail material and provides the best coefficient of friction and low wear results for profile rails. The robust high-profile carbon fibre is especially lightweight.

Profile carriage

An important feature is the fact that the plain bearings of the carriages allow the profile guide high precision and a quiet operation. igus GmbH has an extensive product range of over 50 different designs of linear guide carriages. As part of the modular drylin W series, the carriages in combination with the other design elements enable an almost unlimited variety of models.

Linear housing

The maintenance and lubrication-free pillow block moves smoothly over the rails in dry operation. By using sliding surfaces made of tribologically optimised high-performance polymers, the linear housings are particularly robust and insensitive to external influences such as chemicals, heat, water, dirt and impact loads.

Curved linear guide

Based on the proven drylin® W series, igus® is offering curved linear guides that are customised and equipped with guide carriages specifically developed for use with rails of various radii. This results in innovative solutions for applications with limited installation space, e.g. in operator ergonomics, stage technology or in the driver's cab of commercial vehicles, where monitors and control systems are designed in such a way that safe and easy accessibility is guaranteed.

Linear retraction system

Ideal for welding, riveting and screwdriving robots

The triflex RSE retraction system from igus ensures that the e-chain is always guided compactly on the robot arm. This reliably prevents uncontrolled movements caused by dangling cables. The system is based on a drylin W linear guide system, which impresses with its lightweight and robust design. The combination of triflex RSE and drylin W linear guide system also offers an attractive price-performance ratio.

Modular concept

Our drylin W modular system consists of 14 rail profiles and 50 carriage options, which are 100% maintenance and lubrication-free. The advantages of the profile guides are that they are corrosion-free, hygienic and wear-resistant. They are also resistant to dirt, dust and moisture and therefore run very quietly. The modular principle is up to 40% less expensive than recirculating ball bearing guides.

When particularly smooth running is required
In a hybrid linear bearing, a combination of plain bearing and roller bearing work together: Integrated rollers achieve low drive force, while the sliding effect of the plain bearing protects against lateral forces. This combination enables the absorption of misuse forces:

1. Reduction of the coefficient of friction
2. Reduction of the required drive force
3. Function of the system without restricting the 2:1 rule
