Whether gearbox, brake booster, variable-length intake manifold, turbocharger or throttle valve - things get hot in the engine compartment. To reduce friction and wear in the various applications, choosing the right bearing is of great importance. We will be happy to assist you with the selection.

Requirements for bearings in engine compartment applications:

  • Resistance to engine and transmission oil
  • Heat resistant up to 200°C
  • Resistant to particle abrasion

Release bearing in the gearbox

Release bearing

For use as release bearings, we recommend materials that are not only media and temperature resistant up to 200°C, but also cost-effective: iglidur H2 plain bearings or the regranulate variant iglidur HLW.

Bearings and special parts in release fork

Release fork

Cost-effective iglidur H2 plain bearings are also the right choice in the release fork. We manufacture sliders for the crossbars and spherical caps for the head of the release fork as special parts in customer-specific shape, e.g. from iglidur X or iglidur W300 with exceptionally high wear resistance.

Guide rings in the pneumatic clutch release mechanism

Pneumatic clutch release

Guide rings made of the material iglidur H1 are ideal for stroke movements with micro-swivelling in the clutch release. Designed for high continuous operating temperatures, the wear-resistant material ensures a long service life with a constant coefficient of friction.

Plain bearing in the brake booster

Dual mass flywheel

For use in the DMF, iglidur H1 is also the right choice as a wear-resistant endurance runner at high temperatures with very high media resistance. In practice, the material is successfully used as plain bearing and as thrust washer in special dimensions.

Plain bearings and sliders in the shift fork

Shift fork

No contact corrosion on the shift rod as with metallic sockets and better dampening: with temperature-resistant iglidur plain bearings made of the materials iglidur H4 (highly wear-resistant), iglidur H2 (cost-effective) or iglidur X (very pressure-resistant). Customised sliders in a special shape made of iglidur X are used on the crossbars.

Plain bearing and detent pin in the shift lever

Vibration-dampening and resistant to persistent vibrations and friction: iglidur J flange bearings and thrust washers, for rotation igubal spherical bearing KGLM with compensation of edge loads. We also manufacture these as customised special parts for mechanisms with detent pins.

igubal coupling joints can be used at high temperatures, depending on the material, and are therefore ideally suited for use in turbochargers. They are also dirt-resistant and corrosion-free.
