Galam Robotics is a French start-up company that is developing a new storage technology based on modular robotics called "TAK-ONE". TAK-ONE is the first fully modular warehouse robot. This solution, which resembles a Rubik's cube, is both extremely fast and very compact. In addition, thanks to its modularity, it adapts to any space, no matter how small. TAK-ONE is particularly important in urban logistics. Galam Robotics therefore offers it to retailers who want to increase the productivity and compactness of their warehouses or urban logistics centres tenfold.

The robot has been developed to ensure safe warehouse operations on the customer's premises that involve close contact with the public. The operating environment is an urban shop or a logistics micro-hub in the city. One of the biggest problems that had to be overcome at the hardware level was the translation of the warehouse shelves. The TAK-ONE modules had to convert them into three dimensions in extremely tight spaces. A patent application was filed specifically for this point.

Galam Robotics worked with igus to find the ideal solution for vertical movements. The specifications: the solution had to be reliable over time (very high number of cycles), lightweight, very compact, well dimensioned to support the weight of the racks, quiet and, of course, economical.

One of the alternatives considered to lead screw technology from igus was ball screws, but these did not offer the same reliability at the same price.

Therefore, dryspin lead screws were cut to length and machined so that they met the needs. This ensured the attachment to the frame and the coupling with the motors. iglidur J lead screw nuts with flange were used to fulfil all the requirements mentioned in the best possible way.
