The forming, filling and sealing machines from Sri Lakshmi Engineering Works, which are used for packaging dairy products, require regular thorough cleaning with chemical cleaning agents. The problem with the recirculating ball bearings previously used was that the external lubricant was washed out over time due to the cleaning cycles. The result: corroded and worn-out bearings, which led to machine downtime. The company was therefore looking for a more durable and hygienic alternative. After all, external lubrication also carried an increased risk of contamination. A solution was therefore required in which the food that was to be packaged could not come into contact with lubricants.

To make sure that there were no problems with grease contamination after packaging the yoghurt tub, our igus expert examined the application on site and suggested the drylin R linear plain bearings RJUM-02-20 as a solution. The expert carried out service life calculations and presented a wide range of application references in the packaging industry, in which chemical cleaning processes are the rule. Sri Lakshmi Engineering Works was convinced and a quotation was prepared on the same day.
